What is this handset application?

UgoSMS handset application (Mobile Web SMS) may be used by any phone that supports Java MIDP 2.0:

SMSwarehouse launched this specific application first due to the fact that there are so many older handsets still in the market place.  We are working on expanding our handset application range to work on Smart phones (Android, Blackberry etc)

What does it do?

UgoSMS handset application allows users to send SMS from their handset using the SMSwarehouse Web SMS - it is just on your handset, not your PC - so you use one account i.e. username and password to log in and send from your desktop, the internet or your handset.  Your handset needs to be able to connect to the internet to use this service.

How does it work?

UgoSMS mobile web sms is an application that you download onto your handset.  Once installed, it connects to Web SMS where you can log in and send:

1. Individual SMS (Please note that the sender id restrictions in Web SMS will apply)
2. Bulk upload - you can upload up to 200 numbers in a text file and type 1 SMS to send to the list of numbers.
3. You can schedule SMS to be sent at a specific date and time
4. You can do a balance check.
5. If you note down the response id you can check message status.
6. Types of SMS that you can send:
   
   • 160 char english messages including spaces and punctuation
   • Special characters such as @#$%^&*() - please note that some special characters may count as 2 characters.
   • Unicode SMS
   • Sender id / originator "From" requirement/restriction:
     • If you use letters and numbers (alphanumeric) do not exceed 11 characters. Use only characters from A to z and numbers 0‐9. (e.g. SMSFROM10)
     • No spaces are allowed in the sender id. (e.g. SMSFROM12345)
     • Do not use more than 14 numbers if your sender is a number (numeric) (e.g. 34523445322319)
     • Special characters are not allowed(!#@$%^*~?:”;). The may be some specific routes that allow special characters in the sender id but this would be subject to testing. We cannot guarantee that messages with special characters in the sender id would deliver. Clients use these characters in sender id's at their own risk.
   • Bulk SMS - "To" (number) requirements: You may also create a list of numbers in a .txt file and upload it to the SMS desktop application to send one message to a list of numbers (bulk SMS). The following rule applies when you send to any mobile number:
     • The number of the mobile that receive the SMS of the SMS should in its full international format. This excludes the leading +, 0 or the 00 notation (e.g. for South Africa it will be 27XXXXXXXXX). Messages not complying with the above might be rejected.
     • There should not be any spaces at the end of the numbers in the .txt file
     • Ensure that there are no spaces, commas etc. after the last number
     • Use a simple filename like file1.txt without spaces etc.
     • You may upload a maximum of 25,000 (Twenty five thousand) numbers per file for bulk SMS.

The software is available at no cost to registered users.  You will pay per SMS just as you send through the web, desktop, api and the service is subject to our Terms and conditions. There are also:

• No setup fees
• No hidden costs
• No charge for software used

Why would I need it?

• Convenience:  you use one username and password to send SMS from your desktop, web, handset.  So if you are for example a sales manager with a list of sales people that you want to SMS you can do it from the office at your desk or your handset.
• Send bulk SMS from your handset:  This application allows you to upload a .txt (text) file with maximum 200 numbers from your phone, type your message once and send to a list of people.
• Depending on volumes and target destination you may even save money per SMS using the SMSwarehouse gateway as the UgoSMS handset application taps into your web sms account which means that all your SMS is sent from one origin and based on volume you may save some money as volume based discounts will apply.
